For years I followed Colorado wedding photographers and hoped to photograph a celebration at some of the more iconic locations. At the top of that list: The Chapel at Red Rocks. Nestled between Bear Creek Road and the Red Rocks themselves, the location is idyllic and a true Colorado wedding landmark.
My obsession with the location has been growing over the years. So, when Nando and Evelyn needed a photographer quickly for their wedding, I couldn't refuse. The day was a stressful one for the couple. What had started out as a simple court house affair quickly turned into an intimate wedding complete coordinated Cubaveras for the boys and men and beautiful flower arrangements made by a family friend. The beautiful ceremony was then followed by a delicious dinner at Simm Steakhouse!
Every partnership deserves a grand celebration, and these two got it!
A close friend of mine, Maia, happened to be visiting that weekend, and joined me. For years, Maia had been my photography partner in crime. We had gone to college together, worked together, studied abroad together, and traveled together. I have many photos of Maia stooped over beautiful food or tea, camera in hand, and she has just as many of me. However, life and responsibilities have put several hundred miles between us. With my work in public policy in Denver and her graduate studies in occupational therapy in New Mexico, we've been busy. Her trip happened to coincide perfectly with the wedding, and I could not have asked for a better way for us to reconnect!
